Airline Transport Pilot Additional Rating Course

The Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Course is designed for the experienced helicopter pilot who wishes to take their ratings to the highest level. This course will provide the student with the ground and flight experience necessary to successfully complete the requirements for an ATP certificate.

Enrollment Prerequisites

  Must have an FAA Commercial Helicopter Pilot license

Eligibility Requirements

  • Read, speak, write and understand English
  • Hold an FAA commercial helicopter pilot's license
  • Hold an FAA instrument rating for rotorcraft-helicopter
  • Hold at least a third class medical certificate
  • Be at least 23 years of age
  • Be of good moral character

Meet the following aeronautical experience requirements before the ATP checkride:

  • 1200 hours minimum flight time as a pilot, consisting of at least:
  • 500 hours of cross-country flight time
  • 100 hours of night time, which includes at least:
    • 15 hours in helicopters
  • 200 hours of flight time in helicopters, which includes at least
    • 75 hours of pilot-in-command
  • 75 hours instrument flight time in actual or simulated meteorological conditions, which includes at least:
    • 50 hours obtained in flight with at least 25 in a helicopter as pilot-in-command
